Highlights include:

Opening night brings the highly-anticipated premiere of VICTOR WALK to Metro Cinema, with special guest Theoren Fleury in attendance (VIP Meet & Greet tickets available, which include a copy of Theo’s book, Playing with Fire.) Proceeds of this special OPENING NIGHT screening event will directly benefit the Breaking Free Foundation, an organization that provides support and treatment for survivors of traumatic life events.

On May 6, we present the CANADIAN PREMIERE of the intimate new profile, MAY IT LAST: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers, directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. The screening will feature a silent auction of autographed collectibles to raise funds for the Stollery Children’s Health Foundation.

Local producer – and NWF favourite – Adam Scorgie (ICE GUARDIANS) returns with CHASING EVEL, directed by Jesse James Miller, premiering at Metro Cinema on May 12; and the Bell Media Best of Hot Docs Series features some of the year’s most acclaimed docs, including TOKYO IDOLS, LET THERE BE LIGHT, OUT OF THIN AIR, 78/52, and THE LAST ANIMALS, which follows a group of conservationists in their heroic efforts to save elephants and rhinos from extinction.

Closer to home, we’re thrilled to present the Canadian Premiere of the stunning new music doc, NO ROADS HOME, featuring the pride of Cremona, Alberta, Blake Reid. Screening Thursday May 11, stay tuned more info about this very special screening!

We’ve also got 2 FANTASTIC Mother’s Day screenings at the RAM, including BEE NATION, which follows a group of Saskatchewan students competing in the First Nations Spelling Bee, and the beautifully moving love letter to service dogs, LETTING GO OF ADELE. With some tasty snacks, a luscious wine bar, guest filmmakers, and complimentary pamper stations from our friends at Kiehl’s Since 1851, this will be THE place to spend the day with Mom!

And bringing it all home, legendary session drummer Kenny Aronoff and director Fran Strine join us for the Closing Night screening of the raucous and wildly entertaining crowd-pleaser, HIRED GUN, examining the rollercoaster lives of the musicians who have played supporting roles on some of rock’s most iconic albums.

Other highlights include: a timely TRUMP TRIPLE-BILL; our stellar DOC SHORTS Series at the Matrix Hotel; an incredible, immersive VR Experience with the NFB’s exciting new interactive film, INVISIBLE WORLD; and NEW for 2017, our awesome new weekday PODCAST series: LunchPods at the Needle Vinyl Tavern, hosted by a variety of Edmonton’s favourite podcast talents.

Passes, 6-ticket Packs, and single tickets are now on sale, or pick up a pass or 6-Pack in person at TIX on the Square.
