Born in Edmonton as Kendall Chinn (aka Kenny), Mr. Chi Pig was the front man for one of the biggest names in the first wave of Canadian punk rock: SNFU. While they never found ‘massive’ fame themselves, they forged a fiercely loyal cult following, and influenced an entire generation of musicians, from Jello Biafra to Moe Berg, to Corb Lund, Matthew Good & Hot Hot Heat.
The band's visibility faded, even if their influence didn't, and Kenny's world became filled with drugs and alcohol. He came closer and closer to living on the street. What surprised everyone, including Mr. Chi Pig himself, was what that his drug addiction was also masking schizophrenia.
Both a journey through the under-belly of Canadian music and a comeback-kid tale, Open Your Mouth And Say... Mr. Chi Pig feels like you’re sitting and having a beer with some of the biggest names in the music industry as they recount tales of Mr. Chi Pig and his story (so far).
The film includes live footage spanning decades, and appearances from: MR. CHI PIG, CHUCK DUKOWSKI, JELLO BIAFRA, JOHN KASTNER, EVAN "TADPOLE" JONES, CORB LUND, SHAWN STERN, MATTHEW GOOD, TOM HOLLISTON, MOE BERG, CHAD MAREELS, MATT FOX, KEN GOONIE FLEMING, JON CARD, FORD PIER, ROB JOHNSON, JOE 'SHITHEAD' KEITHLEY, LUKE PABICH, STEVE BAYS, BRENDAN CANNING, STUART ROSS, MATT WARHURST, SHANE SMITH, DEREK ADAM, DEVON RB CLIFFORD, DENIS NOAHBODY, MR. PLOW CHRIS WALTER, and many more.
